Marine Capture for AI Model Training

Job description
The objective is to collect video and photographic data of multiple flight approaches toward specific targets within a capture. Proper video collection depends on the diversity and quality of the data. The model’s ability to function correctly is directly tied to the range of distinct environments, geometric layouts, and scenarios it is exposed to.
Collection Type: Marine/Boat Targets
Objective & Site Selection In addition to building structures, we are collecting similar approach and template data for marine vessels. Target boats must be located in the water, which can include diverse aquatic environments such as lakes, bays, or oceans. Ensure variety in boat types, sizes, and water conditions.
Crucial Sensor, Lighting, & Workflow Requirements Unlike the building collections where Infrared (IR) is highly preferred, IR is a strict requirement for boat collections. To effectively gather this data, teams must follow this specific daily workflow to capture both day and night conditions:
- Daytime Collect (Pre-Sunset): Complete all 4 required shots (listed below) for a minimum of 3 distinct boats before the sun goes down. Sensor Requirement: Simultaneous IR and EO (Electro-Optical/standard RGB video).
- Transition: Wait for full darkness (typically about 30 minutes after sunset).
- Nighttime Collect (Post-Sunset): Complete all 4 required shots for a minimum of 3 new, distinct boats after full darkness has set in. Sensor Requirement: IR-only capture.
(Note: If using a dual-camera system like the DJI Mavic 3 Thermal, ensure radiometric data is captured if supported, or use a grayscale mode like "White Hot".)
Required Shot Checklist (Per Target Boat) For every target boat (both day and night), you must capture a minimum of the following flight paths. Because ground-level photos are generally not feasible for vessels in the water, the 360-degree fly-around serves as the template imagery replacement.
- Shot 1: 360-Degree Close Fly-Around (Template Material) Fly a complete 360-degree circle close to the boat. Keep the vessel centered in the frame to capture comprehensive, high-quality template image material from all sides.
- Shot 2: Top-Down Descent Start at maximum safe altitude directly above the target boat. Descend straight down toward the deck/roof, getting as close as safely and reasonably possible without interfering with the vessel.
- Shot 3: High-Angle Approach Fly an approach toward the boat maintaining a steep, high-angle downward camera pitch.
- Shot 4: Low-Angle Approach (Alternate Heading) Perform a shallow, low-angle approach toward the boat. Crucial: This approach must originate from a completely different direction/heading than your High-Angle Approach (Shot 3).
General Reminders for Boat Collects:
- As with buildings, mix up your camera zooms, exposure settings, and stability levels.
- Capture the exact Lat/Long coordinates of the target vessel.
- Submit .srt files alongside your .mp4 files for metadata.
